Intl hockey federation asks for 'proper action'
New Delhi, April 23: : The bribe scandal involving IHF General Secretary K Jothikumaran has evoked strong reaction from the game's world governing body, FIH, which has asked the Indian Olympic Association to take an "appropriate action" in the matter.
"We have taken notice and we are in close contact with the Indian Olympic Association to take proper action as they see it appropriate," FIH President Els van Breda Vriesman said in an official reaction.
Jothikumaran, who has stepped down as the Secretary General of IHF, was purportedly shown accepting bribe in a sting operation by a news channel, in which the television news channel claimed that the disgraced IHF official assured its disguised reporters of getting a player selected in the senior hockey team after receiving a cash payment of Rs 2 lakhs and taking a promise of another Rs 3 lakhs to be given to his man in Delhi.
