“I am really surprised by the media reports about players staying in different hotels. It is not a matter of money at all and I guess if given a chance, I will be ready to stay under a table to play alongside some of the best in the world,” said Maxwell, while addressing a hurriedly called press conference at the PCA Stadium, Mohali.
One report had claimed that the domestic players in the squad had been moved out to ‘save costs’, while another said that they had been shifted to accomodate visiting celebrities.
But Maxwell said that theirs was the only team to have the same set of guidelines for the entire bunch of 29 players, whether they were among the 16 picked for a game or the reserves.
Owners of the team were not available for comments.
