Nicholas Piramal Q4 net stands at Rs 133 cr

Mumbai, April 24:: Pharma major Nicholas Piramal India on Thursday announced a net profit of Rs 132.82 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, against a net profit of Rs 54.95 crore in the corresponding period in 2007.

The total income rose to Rs 767.9 crore for the quarter under review from Rs 645.21 crore in the year-ago period, NPIL said in a filing to the Bombay Stock Exchange.

NPIL group has announced a net profit of Rs 333.78 crore for the financial year ended March 31, against Rs 218.05 crore for the year ended March 31, 2007.

The total income rose of the group rose to Rs 2878.91 crore for the year ended March 31, from Rs 2472.32 crore in the previous year, the filing added.

Further, the board has declared a dividend of Rs 4.20 on equity shares of Rs two each for the financial year ending March 31.

The figures for the quarter and year ended include operations of Nicholas Piramal Consumer Products and NPIL Healthcare and excludes operations of Piramal Life Sciences.

Hence, the figures are not comparable, the filing stated.

NPIL has announced a standalone net profit of Rs 112.3 crore for the fourth quarter ended March 31, against Rs 26.92 crore for the corresponding quarter last year.

The standalone total income of the firm rose to Rs 516.98 crore for the reviewed quarter, from Rs 387.21 crore in the corresponding quarter in 2007.

The company announced a standalone net profit of Rs 301.48 crore for the year ended March 31, against Rs 188.28 crore in the corresponding period in 2007.

The total income rose to Rs 1,938.07 crore for the year ended March 31, from Rs 1,639.88 crore for the financial year ending March 31, 2007.
