London, May 3 : Film director Prabhakar Shukla is all set to make a movie on Scarlett Keeling, the Devon schoolgirl whose body was found on a beach in Goa in February 18, with Bollywood actress Katrina Kaif expected to play the lead role.

The film, to be called Rave Party, will be shot in Goa in the summer. It will follow the classic Bollywood formula with comic characters, sexy girls and troupes of dancers performing kitsch routines, Shukla was quoted as saying by The Daily Telegraph on Saturday. Shukla said he wanted to show the seedier side of India’s beach paradise.

The 15-year-old was found dead on Goa’s Anjuna beach on February 18 and police had arrested two locals who allegedly drugged, raped and left her to die on the beach.

However, Fiona McKeown, Scarlett’s mother, expressed concerns about the project, which she said would make “a mockery” of her daughter’s life. “It’s far too soon to be thinking about a film on Scarlett's life — she hasn't even been buried yet.”

Fiona accused the police of a cover-up involving local officials and drug dealers after they reported Keeling had drowned.

A second post-mortem examination found that she had been raped and killed.

Defending his project Shukla said, “The film will of course be commercial in the Bollywood sense. Singing and dancing always enhances the story. But the moving story of Scarlett’s death will also be there. “I want to show the people what is happening in Goa—how they are slowly getting addicted to drugs and ruining their lives,” he said.
