Bihar cop who alleged sexual exploitation is suspended
PATNA, MAY 3: A police constable who was a former bodyguard of a Congress MLA in the state has been suspended after he accused the woman legislator of sexually exploiting him for over two years. Finding his conduct “unbecoming of a Government servant”, the suspension letter wonders why the cop did not inform his superiors about the exploitation when it started in March 2006.
The cop’s attempt to lodge a police complaint has also backfired as the IPC does not have a provision to deal with sexual exploitation by a woman. Therefore, his complaint has been lodged under Section 506 of the IPC (threatening someone), and it is a non-cognisable offence.
Bal Yogeshwar Sharma shocked everyone when he charged 40-plus Sunita Devi, the MLA from Korha (reserved) Assembly segment, with sexual exploitation. The cop levelled this allegation on a TV news channel, saying the legislator had threatened to kill him if he disclosed her misdeeds.
