Surrendered militant attempts suicide, flees
Jammu, May 5: : A surrendered militant of the Hizbul Mujahideen consumed poison in Kishtwar district of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday night and later fled from the hospital where he was undergoing treatment, official sources said.
Zulafikar Ali Rather was admitted to the Kishtwar district hospital from where he fled after regaining consciousness. Rather took his medical records when he escaped.
The surrendered militant was facing trial under Section 420 of the Ranbir Penal Code at Kishtwar district court.
He was arrested along with a video camera, which he used for his assignments disguising as a photo journalist, sources said.
