Shillong: : Home Minister Shivraj Patil will arrive on a two-day visit to Meghalaya on Tuesday as part of his visit to the region to review the law and order situation. Official sources here said Patil will inaugurate the new administrative block of Assam Rifles. He will also address the Assam Rifles Commanders’ conference and meet the Director General of Assam Rifles.

The Home Minister will discuss the prevailing security scenario with senior state Government, police, Army and other defence officials.

He will fly to Kohima on Wednesday where, apart from reviewing the law and order situation, he would attend the passing out parade of Assam Rifles jawans at Dimapur.

The Home Minister’s visit comes in the backdrop of the spate of violence in some states of the region.
