Chandigarh, June 20: In what means more trouble for the beleaguered former Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, the Vigilance Bureau on Friday booked him, his son Raninder Singh, media adviser B I S Chahal, three senior government functionaries and two others on charges of indulging in hawala transactions in the Intranet scam and possessing assets disproportionate to their sources of income.

The SAD(B)-BJP Government has been accusing the former CM’s son of floating a company called Punjab Intranet in Mohali for laundering money.

Sources said the VB booked Capt Amarinder and Raninder along with others, including Chetan Gupta, a family friend who was also charged in the Ludhiana City Centre Scam, under the Prevention of Corruption Act and criminal conspiracy at its police station in Patiala this morning.

“The investigations shall be conducted in a fair manner and nobody will be arrested by the VB at this stage. The bureau has called both Capt Amarinder and Raninder for questioning at the circuit house in Patiala on July 6,” said a senior officer who requested anonymity.
