The BJP’s Lt-Gen (retd) T P S Rawat, a new member of the Lok Sabha from Pauri, has had no time to take a rest. Elected in a by-election caused by the resignation of Chief Minister B C Khanduri, he has been camping at the Uttarakhand Bhavan pending the allotment of a house at the Capital. In the meanwhile, the BJP has nominated him again from the seat for the next Lok Sabha polls, implying that he has to relaunch his campaign without wasting time. And given that Rawat won the seat only with the postal ballots giving him a narrow margin, he has to embark on the job right away to secure his position this time. As for a flat, Rawat is convinced, he has to wait. If he wins, he would have a strong case for an early allotment. And if he doesn’t, he wouldn’t need accommodation.
