Archer Reena demands retrial

New Delhi: : Archer Reena Kumari has cried foul after losing the Olympic berth to Dola Banerjee and V Pranitha in the trials and is demanding another chance.

Reena has also lashed out at the selection committee and questioned the authenticity of trials conducted by the Archery Association of India to judge candidates. “There is no transparency in the selection trials. All decisions are taken by (AAI General Secretary) Paras Mukherjee. Archery revolves round him, he is the sole authority,” she said.

“I want that there should be another trial or else I should be taken back in the team. If this time I can’t then I would say ok, perhaps I am not good enough,” she added.

However, Mukherjee said Reena never had any significant performance and the selection trial was open and fair.
