New Delhi, July 23 Tiger poaching continues unabated across the country. On Saturday, two tiger skins and a skeleton were seized at Swarghat in Himachal Pradesh and two people including a Tibetan national, Premo Gaytso, arrested by the local police. This was followed by the seizure of two tiger skins in Chhattisgarh’s Mahasamund district on Monday. Two people have been arrested.

“Gaytso and Amit Kumar were caught with incriminating material in their vehicle at our naka in Swarghat. Further investigation revealed that they were carrying two tiger skins and a skeleton. It is emerging that there are several links and many people are involved. It is not yet established where the tigers were poached from,” said DSP Sanjeev Gandhi.

Sources in the Himachal Police added that the men had contacts in Gurgaon. They suspect this could be a link to Bhima Bawariya, the notorious poacher whose Gurgaon house was raided by the Wildlife Crime Control Bureau (WCCB) on July 7. A tiger skeleton, tiger fat and tiger penis were seized in the raid.

Meanwhile, the Bureau is on the lookout for Bhima. “Investigations are on in several states. The house which was raided was in his wife’s name,” said Gurum Singh from the WCCB, adding that the Bureau was assisting the police to bring the poacher to book.
