Train services on this route were suspended following a series of attacks by armed militants of the Dima Halam Daoga (DHD) which is fighting for a separate state for the Dimasa tribe. A train driver was killed and two others injured when the militants attacked a train on May 15, prompting the railways to call off its services.
“We are providing bullet-proof glass covers to eight engines that are being deployed on this section as services resume after nearly 75 days,” NF Railway CPRO Samir Goswami said on Wednesday.
While one train each will run on the Lumding-Haflong and Haflong- Badarpur sections from Thursday morning under tight security, two trains will run from two ends between Lumding and Silchar from Thursday evening, Goswami said.
