




A Judicial Magistrate Court (First Class) in Durg district granted him bail on August 4 as police failed to file a chargesheet against him within the mandatory 90 days.The court has asked Ajay to furnish a personal bond of Rs 50,000, two security deposits of Rs 25,000 and an affidavit, listing his movable and immovable properties. He has also been asked not to move out of the country without prior permission.
Ajay, a state executive of the Peoples Union of Civil Liberties (PUCL), was arrested under the controversial Chhattisgarh Special Public Security Act, 2005, for “having links with the outlawed Communist Party of India (Maoist)”. The PUCL claimed he was falsely implicated as part of a campaign targeting human right activists in the state.
