Nagpur: : Forest Department sources have suggested that forensic evidence in the chinkara hunting case was enough to nail former Maharashtra transport minister Dharmaraobaba Atram and his arrest was likely soon.

Reports received from Pune Forensic Laboratory and Hyderabad’s Centre for Cellular and Molecular Biology have reportedly all “positive”. They include DNA tests on blood and hair samples as well as samples of a half-burnt carcass collected from Atram’s Pachgani farmhouse and from vehicles belonging to Atram and his alleged accomplices — Ravi Sorap from Mumbai and Mahesh Biramane from Pachgani.

Atram is accused of shooting a chinkara near Gulunche village in Purandar tehsil during the night of June 14 and 15 along with some accomplices. While Atram has denied the charge, his "accomplices" have been arrested. The authorities were waiting for forensic tests to proceed against the former minister who resigned after the controversy broke out.
