The family members on Sunday said the police have linked Zahid with the blasts to uphold the ban on SIMI, the organisation he allegedly owed allegiance to.
Zahid has owned a mobile shop at the Alishan Complex in Danilimda for the past four or five years and has been living in Sandhi Avenue near Vishala Circle on the Sarkhej highway for the past one year along with his parents, wife, four-month-old son, an elder brother and sister-in-law. Zahid had studied till Class VIII in an English-medium Islamic school before he dropped out to earn for his family.
One of his sisters, Saleha, refuted the charges levelled against Zahid. “They (the DCB) say Zahid had gone to various places for training and had arranged for vehicles used in the blasts. But he had not left home for the past five months. They also said some meetings were held at our house but we are not aware of any such meeting," she said.
