Thiruvananthapuram, August 27: The Kerala Government had decided to form a special police cell, headed by a DIG, to monitor the growing extremist activities in the state, said Home Minister Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.

After a high-level meeting of police officers here, Kodiyeri said that physical training and arms training of all organisations, including National Development Front (NDF) and RSS, would be put under strict police surveillance. No organisation would be allowed to take up such training sessions and camps, without permission from the police .

RSS branches would have to get police sanction for their routine physical training activities.

He said the functioning of the NDF, which had been in the dock due to a couple of murders in the recent past, would be specially monitored.

Several political parties had alleged that NDF had been conducting arms training for its cadres in different districts of North Kerala.
