New Delhi, August 28: : Low-cost carrier SpiceJet on Thursday said it has no plans to alter its basic fare structures during the festival season, despite an imminent drop in aviation turbine fuel (ATF) cost.

"We don't intend to decrease our fare prices when the ATF prices drop in September. We will wait for the ATF prices to stabilise before we think of passing the benefit to customers," SpiceJet Chief Commercial Officer Samyukth Sreedharan said.

He said it would be difficult for the airline to immediately drop fare rates as the industry has suffered a lot due to high ATF prices.

"There is a possible drop in ATF prices by 10-12 per cent, which could translate to about Rs 300-400 in fares but we will not immediately cut our fares," he said.

"Our basic fare structure will remain consistent in the next 45 days between September to October. We are neither increasing our fares inspite of the fact that festive season is coming up," Sreedharan added.

He, however, said with the load factor likely to go up, the carrier may sell more of the high priced last minute seats.

"Our expectation is that there will be a lot more travel during the festive season and also increase in last minute bookings, which are always 5-8 per cent higher priced than normal seats booked in advance," Sreedharan said.
