India to take up terror issues with Bangladesh

New Delhi, August 29 : Close on the heels of detailed discussions between the heads of their respective border police forces, India and Bangladesh will hold another round of high-level talks this weekend during which New Delhi is likely to urge Dhaka to crack down on terrorists operating from its soil.

At the annual Home Secretary-level talks in Dhaka, India is also expected to reiterate its demand for deportation of Indian insurgents who have taken shelter there, Home Ministry sources said on Thursday.

Many insurgent leaders like Anup Chetia, Paresh Baruah and Arabinda Rajkhowa, who have been accused in a number of criminal cases in the northeastern region, have been hiding in Bangladesh.

Home Secretary Madhukar Gupta is also likely to impress upon his Bangladeshi counterpart Mohd Abdul Karim to take action against Bangladeshi nationals who have been involved in various Terror attacks in India. Gupta is likely to present Dhaka with evidence of the involvement of HuJI and other terror organisations in a number of bomb blasts in India in recent times.

Last week, at the meeting of heads of border police of the two sides, Border Security Force Director General A K Mitra had handed to his counterpart a list of 110 terror camps operating in Bangla-desh which were being used to train militants . Illegal immigration, drugs trafficking, and smuggling of arms and fake currency are some of the other issues likely to be discussed at the meeting, sources said.
