Guwahati, August 29: Warning various companies engaged in construction of dam projects in the state to perform or perish, Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Dorjee Khandu has told them to take immediate steps to address grievances of the local communities.

“The non-performing power developers, including central PSUs like NHPC and NEEPCO are no exception as they have to show performances as agreed upon, particularly regarding rehabilitation and social welfare programmes with the consensus of the local affected populace in the interest of the state, or (they) would face action,” said an official press note issued from the CM’s office.

Listening to people’s problems at a meeting in Itanagar on Thursday, which was attended, among others, by the dam-affected people’s representatives of the Dibang Valley, Khandu assured them that his Government would redress the genuine grievances. “There can be no development without the willing cooperation of the people,” the CM said.
