Burdwan, WB, August 30:: Angry at not being served the usually ready meal when he returned home, a farmer pushed his wife, son and daughter before a running train resulting in their deaths, police said. He then threw himself in the path of the same train, ending his life.

Quoting eyewitnesses, police said 30-year-old Sushil Pakrey, an agricultural labourer, dragged his 25-year-old wife Jyotsna and two children, Nandagopal and Anamika, to the tracks, one kilometre away from Mashagram railway station.

After pushing them in front of a running train, he jumped in its path, killing all of them and himself. His body was caught in the engine's cowcatcher and dragged for nearly half-a-kilometre.

They lay on the tracks for 30 minutes as locals demonstrated before the stationmaster's room. The bodies were later removed and sent for post mortem.
