Mumbai, September 2: In a matter of two hours, Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji Terminus witnessed two emergency landings on Tuesday night.

In the first incident, an Iran Air flight made an emergency landing at Mumbai’s Chhatrapati Shivaji International Airport late on Tuesday night. According to airport officials, all passengers and crew members were safe.

The incident occurred after the Tehran-bound aircraft, a Boeing 747, had taken off from the airport at about 10 p.m. It had flown to 90 nautical miles from Mumbai when the pilot suspected a fire in one of the aircraft’s engines. He immediately alerted the Air Traffic Control which in turn directed the pilot to make an emergency landing.

The plane landed safely at 10:39 pm. The officials emptied fuel tanks of the aircraft after the landing as a precautionary measure. Spokesperson for the Mumbai International Airport confirmed the incident.
