Formally addressing the media for a third time in the last nine days, setting up a photo-op to receive Rs 21.5 crore from various Railways PSUs and reiterating all the measures the Railways had taken for flood relief, Lalu said right now the priority was to save the flood affected people. “Hisab kitab toh time aane pe chukaya jayega,” he said.
He also made it clear that the Rs 90 crore aid being raised by the Railways for the Railway Minister’s Welfare and Relief Fund would be distributed panchayat-wise once the rescue work is over. He also said that “Lalu Bhojanalayas” had been opened at five places by the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD).
Stating that the Nitish Kumar Government was not able to take in the efforts put in by the Centre for Bihar, he said that discontent against the state Government was simmering in flood-affected areas. “I am not playing politics against Nitish, I am playing politics to save our people,” he said, adding that he was planning an aerial survey of the breach site at Kushaha.
