Shillong:: The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) principal adviser VP Raja will be visiting Meghalaya on September 22 to push for uranium mining in the state. Raja will hold another round of talks both with the anti and pro-mining groups in the state.

Raja’s visit follows Union Cabinet Secretary K M Chandrasekhar’s and Atomic Energy Commission (AEC) Chairman Anil Kakodkar’s visits to Meghalaya last month. Both of them had met NGOs and political parties who are pro and anti-mining. Immediately after that, the union Government had sanctioned Rs 800 crore to Meghalaya for developing infrastructure in the West Khasi district where uranium is to be mined.
