Chennai: : V Vaithilingam, a former chief minister and the Industries and Power Minister in the just-dissolved Cabinet, was sworn in as new Chief Minister of the Union Territory of Puducherry on Thursday, after the endless opposition from Cabinet members forced his predecessor N Rangasamy to resign.

The new CM has retained the entire cast of the previous Cabinet—MOHF Shahjahan, E Valsaraj, Malladi Krishna Rao and M Kandasamy —while A Namassivayam, a former minister, also made it to the new Government.

Portfolios have not been allocated yet. Inside sources said it would take another two days, stressing there were no problems within the new team about the allocation.
