Shimla, September 05: Even as Congress leaders today went all out to support the movement of PTA teachers, Chief Minister Prem Kumar Dhumal today said all illegal appointments will be cancelled.

Commenting on the agitation, Dhumal said the PTA teachers are not Government employees. Moreover, inquiries by the government have revealed that a lot of them don’t meet basic eligibility criteria such as educational qualifications and were “close relatives of Congress leaders”.

“The government is all set to decide the fate of all those who were appointed illegally and also by transferring regular teachers. We will recruit regular teachers through Subordinate Services Selection Board and Public Service Commission on merit and those who don’t meet eligibility criteria or have been wrongly appointed will lose their jobs,” he announced.

Over 10,000 PTA teachers were appointed by the Congress government and a high-level inquiry has detected serious violations in the appointments.
