Storm renders city powerless

Ludhiana, September 06: A few minutes of storm on Friday evening has caused losses worth lakhs of rupees to the Punjab State Electricity Board. Around 50 electricity poles were uprooted in various parts of the city while two transformers were also damaged. More than 80% of the city remained without power for more than 12 hours.

Areas such as Gill Road, Focal Point, South City were powerless till the time of filing this report.Of the 358 feeders of the state electricity board, nearly 300 tripped after the rainstorm while trees were uprooted in many parts of the city.
