It has been learnt that the DC has constituted a three-member committee that includes general assistant to the DC, DSP City- I Jaswinder Singh and Civil Surgeon Dr SP Sharma.
However, civil surgeon Dr SP Sharma said today he was still waiting for formal communication from the district administration about to probe the role of the doctor in the pregnant woman's death.
Dr Sharma said that he had been asked by the Senior Superintendent of Police to constitute a committee in order to investigate the reasons leading to the death.
The members of the family and relatives of Sanjana, a resident of Salem Tabri, had staged protests for two consecutive days following her death. They have alleged that the doctor left the scissors in her abdomen which led to her death.
Sanjana was operated upon by Dr DP Arora of Arora Nursing Home at Inderjit Nursing Home owned by a PCMS doctor on September 2 after she complained of pain in abdomen, while she had once been operated upon on August 25 when she gave birth to a girl through caesarean. However, Dr Arora has reportedly denied the allegations.
