The two persons, who died after being buried under the uprooted trees at Ambala City and Shaehzadpur, were identified as Sukh Ram Bhardwaj and Balia, both migratory labourers from Bihar.
Two persons were, meanwhile, injured in separate house collapses at Ambala Cantonment and Ambala City. With a number of trees uprooted, the national highway was blocked at several points. High tension powerline of the railways was also snapped off which stranded a number of trains for nearly an hour on the Ambala-Ludhiana line.
The damaged electricity feeder lines caused powercuts for nearly 20 hours today. Drinking water supply was not spared either as tubewells could not function.
Authorities said that power supply has been restored in urban areas while work is on in rural areas. Former MLA Anil Vij demanded compensation for the sufferers. MLA D K Bansal also went to the spot to enquire about the loss suffered by the house owners.
