England’s soccer superstar David Beckham’s personal life has again come under scrutiny after another of his alleged love affairs was publicised today.
If Malaysian-born Sarah Marbeck was to be believed, Beckham had a two-year-long affair with her, that began barely four hours after they met at a poolside party in July 2001.
The latest allegation comes close on the heels of his former PA Rebecca Loos’ confession that she had sold to a section of the British tabloids for 350,000 pounds (nearly $640,000).
Loos, daughter of a Dutch diplomat, had claimed that Beckham had started an affair with her, after the midfielder moved to Madrid. “He needed a woman to be with him and to help him through a difficult lonely spell in his life,” 26-year-old Loos said.
Loos’ allegations had hardly died down, when Marbeck came up with her claim.
In her chat with the British tabloid press, Marbeck, who now lives in Australia, said that their first rendezvous was followed by subsequent meetings. Reacting to Loos’ allegations, Beckham said the allegations were “ludicrous” and that he had a “wonderful wife and two very special kids”.
Meanwhile, friends of the footballer and his wife have expressed serious doubts about the credibility of the latest allegations.
