NEW DELHI, AUGUST 4 The Government tonight cleared the action taken report (ATR) on the Nanavati Commission findings but remained tightlipped on when the two would be made public.
‘‘The report will be submitted to Parliament along with the ATR. The submission date will be decided by the Parliamentary Affairs Minister,’’ Information and Broadcasting Minister S Jaipal Reddy told reporters.
Reddy declined to specify the date though the deadline for laying the report is Monday. The report, along with the ATR, has to be tabled in Parliament within six months of its submission on February 9.
The Opposition has threatened to disrupt the proceedings in Parliament if the Government failed to present the report by tomorrow.
Reddy also refused to divulge the contents of the report, saying that it would be a breach of parliamentary privilege. Justice Nanavati Commission has inquired into the anti-Sikh riots in November 1984 following the then prime minister, Indira Gandhi’s assassination.
