MUMBAI, SEPTEMBER 18 Mumbai police, investigating former bar girl Tarannum’s cricket betting connections, today grilled actor Aditya Panscholi for over three hours here.

The actor was asked if he had ever seen bookie ‘DJ’ in Deepa Bar—where Tarannum was employed—and if he knew him personally.

The police also made him verify his statements to the media—Panscholi had said that he had taken Sri Lankan cricketer Muthiah Muralitharan to Deepa Bar last year, but denied having introduced him to Tarannum.

The actor had earlier been summoned for interrogation on Friday but stayed away, allegedly to avoid the media. According to police sources, he went to Delhi on an Air Sahara flight yesterday and returned today.

Meanwhile, Tarannum—under police custody in the Nagpada women’s lock-up—was also brought to the Crime Branch office, where Panscholi was grilled.

Her lawyer Prakash Shetty alleged that though the court had given permission to provide homemade food to Tarannum inside the lock-up, police had denied her this facility.
