NEW DELHI, SEPTEMBER 20 Apart from allopathy, doctors coming from medical schools are likely to prescribe a herbal dose, too—a new MBBS curriculum integrating modern and traditional practices is on its way.

Currently being prepared, the curriculum is likely to be implemented within two years, said Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Anbumani Ramadoss at a seminar today.

Calling the present curriculum outdated, the Minister said the new version will work towards integrating both modern and traditional practices. ‘‘Consultation process on the new curriculum, involving various ministries including the Ministry of Human Resource Development, would begin in a few weeks,’’ said Ramadoss.

‘‘Our traditional medicinal system is time-tested. In the new curriculum, diagnostic science would be given more priority,’’ said the Minister.
