PATNA, NOVEMBER 13 Hours after Bihar wrapped up the third phase of polling for the state Assembly, hundreds of Left wing extremists struck in a big way tonight, raiding the police lines, police station and jail in the heart of Jehanabad.
At least three persons were said to have died and jailed Maoists freed.
Cadres of the CPI(Maoists) attacked around 9 pm in a bid to loot firearms, ammunition but the policemen there engaged them in a firefight, said Bihar Home Secretary H C Sirohi.
Heavy firing was still on between the extremists and the police when reports last came in. The extremists were using the public address system, directing people to stay indoors.
Sirohi said there had been intelligence inputs about a possible attack on Jehanabad because the security forces were busy with the polls.
