MUMBAI: :Bal Thackeray tried to underplay the Saamna article, and blamed the electronic media for creating a controversy instead.

“Amitabh Bachchan is our family friend. We have not spoken or written anything against him. Still the channels have created a controversy over the news report in Saamna and it is condemnable,” Thackeray said a written statement.

Thackeray had stood by Bachchan after his nephew and Maharashtra Navanirman Sena (MNS) chief Raj Thackeray had come down on the superstar over “sons of the soil” issue. His statement today added that the relationship between the Bachchans and Thackerays was firm and would not be spoilt because of stories being broadcast by the news channels, as the relationship was that of “familial love”.
