SKIRTING THE ISSUE
Think summer and you think pretty cotton dresses and billowing skirts. Well, you are in luck. Spring-summer 2008 focusses quite heavily on skirts, particularly the swishy variety. From Frida Giannini of Gucci to Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel, from brands like Miu Miu to Donna Karen, the international runway is awash with various interpretations of the ideal summer garb. Back in India too, designers have tapped the trend and come up with pretty numbers. Ritu Kumar had hers with bright floral prints or simply, in chic white, while Tarun Tahiliani gave it an Indi-kitsch look with its crushed texture and hand-dyed tones. “Skirts with volume give an air of youth and vibrancy. Teamed with a fitted top with a defined silhouette, it's the ideal outfit for the season,” says Kumar. So think girlie. chic this season and flaunt those pleats. It’s time to indulge your feminine side.
