Aus PM opens 'Oz Fest' in Delhi

Australian Prime Minister, Julia Gillard, who came to India on a three-day visit, inaugurated the 'Oz Fest' in New Delhi and announced a scholarship in music under the name of Indian sitar maestro, Pandit Ravi Shankar. Addressing the audience before the start of the music extravaganza at the Old Fort, Gillard said that Australia was renowned for its sporting prowess and relaxed lifestyle but the fest would also showcase splendid cultural talents. The Australian Prime Minister also announced the Pandit Ravi Shankar scholarship in music to be awarded to one student with the opportunity to study at the Victoria College of Arts, University of Melbourne in academic year 2013.
