The opposition parties today remained evasive about their support for the motion of no confidence against the central government, proposed by Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress (TMC).Speaking in Kolkata, Banerjee, who is also the Chief Minister of West Bengal, told media persons that her party remained committed to their stand, and that she had spoken to Communist Party of India (CPI) leader Gurudas Dasgupta on the matter as well. Meanwhile the Congress voiced an optimistic note ahead of the winter session of Parliament, saying that there was no danger of the government falling. The Mamata Banerjee-led TMC, which quit the UPA after the government opened up the country's retail sector for FDI, has been approaching parties as diverse as the right-wing Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), as well as left parties such as the Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M).
