The Rajya Sabha Select Committee has adopted its draft report on the Lokpal and Lokayuktas Bill, and has suggested bringing Prime Minister under the ambit of Lokpal. The committee has recommended that the Prime Minister's Office should be brought under the purview of Lokpal. However, it has not included the Prime Minister on the issues of external affairs, public order, and atomic energy. Commenting on this, Janata Dal (United) leader, Shivanand Tiwari said that the Prime Minister would come under the jurisdiction of the Lokpal Bill but with some restrictions. He further revealed that a collegiate, comprising of the Prime Minister, leader of opposition and the chief justice of the Supreme Court, would appoint the director of the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI).
