Ravi Shankar dies: Politicos mourn

Leaders across the political spectrum today expressed grief over the death of Sitar maestro Pandit Ravi Shankar. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in his condolence message described Shankar as a national treasure and global ambassador of India's cultural heritage. Singh said: An era has passed away with Pandit Ravi Shankar. He was national treasure and global ambassador of India's cultural heritage. The nation joins me to pay tributes to his unsurpassable genius, his art and his humility. Expressing grief over the demise of the musical legend, Minister of state for Parliamentary Affairs, Rajeev Shukla said that the entire society is in big loss. Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting Manish Tewari said that Panditji had enriched Indian music and culture all around the world
