Street theatre is proving to be the best medium to make people aware and fight against Naxalism. In the Shergathi sub-division of Bihar's Gaya District, artists from Anupam Kala Manch, a theatre group, have staged a street play to create awareness about the harmful consequences of Naxalism and its long-term impact on poor villagers. Villagers turned out in hundreds to watch a street play staged in the Naxal hit Amas village. The group of artists belongs to West Bengal and Jharkhand, who have been performing in all naxal-affected states of the country. Recently, members of the group were threatened by rebels in Jharkhand, but they have dedicated their art to protect tribal people from the clutches of red rebels.
