The All Jammu and Kashmir Panchayat Conference (AJKPC) today slammed the state government for being unable to protect locals in the wake of the spiraling fatal attacks on village heads by militants. Expressing outrage and disappointment over the continuous attacks, representatives of AJKPC held a press-meet in Jammu to express their angst and dismay. The AJKPC chairman further lashed out at chief minister Omar Abdullah for trying to play down the situation in the state and demanded swift action from the state government. The attacks on village council members have again gained momentum as unidentified gunmen shot and injured a woman, in Hardeshiva village of Sopore town in Baramulla district on January 12. Meanwhile, Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has decided to review the security of the elected village representatives.
