With the two finalists already confirmed for the 2023 Asia Cup final, Friday’s Super 4 game between India and Bangladesh had little stakes in the offering. India shall play Sri Lanka in the summit clash on Sunday and Bangladesh are out of the competition. The men in blue made as many as five changes for the game.

In all of it, one constant was Ravindra Jadeja. The all-rounder has been a vital mainstay in Indian setup across formats for a while now and the milestone he crossed after trapping Shamim Hossain leg before wicket. While the wicket was Jadeja’s first and only in the game, it completed his 200 ODI scalps in the 50-overs format.

With Hossain having arrived in the middle after skipper Shakib Al Hasan (80) was removed by Shardul Thakur, Jadeja decided to come around the wicket to the left hander and beat him with the turn and bounce. As the batter went upstairs for a referral, the ball tracker displayed three reds and Bangladesh lost a second wicket in two overs.

Jadeja closed with bowling figures of 1/53 and has six wickets to his name in the ongoing tournament.

Bangladesh had lost both of their previous Super 4 games against Sri Lanka and Pakistan and were four wickets down for 59 when Shakib Al Hasan and Shamim Hossain stitched a 101-run stand for the fifth wicket.

India had confirmed their place in the final having beaten Pakistan and Sri Lanka in back to back games earlier this week. Sri Lanka on the other hand, inched past Babar Azam and Co on Thursday in a last ball thrilling finish to set up a ninth final against India in the continental competition.
