SAFF Cup Highlights: Maldives beat India 2-1 to become new champions

Terrible defending by India as Maldives attack again. India will be wanting to finish the match quickly now. Maldives know India would try to attack and are prepared with their strong defending wall.

That was a really good opportunity that India missed. The Blue shirts received a corner and made a complete mess of it. All it needed was a mild tap-in from the Indian skipper Manvir. How many more chances like this will India get?

Substitution: Hitesh Sharma comes on for Anirudh Thapa for a more attacking line-up. Less than 20 minutes for the finalist to be decided.

GOAL! Setback for India as Ali Fassir scores to double Maldives' lead against India. A rather fine goal and a disappointing defence from India led to the second goal of the match. India are letting the match sliip away from their hands.

Two brilliant saves from Maldives keeper Faisal ensures they stay in the lead. India earn a free-kick , taken by Anirudh Thapa. He sends it to Manvir but cleared by Maldives' defenders.

Manvir, who scored a brace in the semifinal against Pakistan, has a chance to bring India back on level terms but his header misses the target. This is followed by some drama as a player in the Maldives box has been booked for misconduct.

The second half of the SAFF Cup final is underway in Dhaka. India looking for an equaliser as Stephen Constantine makes the first change of the evening. German Singh replaces Davinder. 

HALF TIME! The referee blows the half time whistle and the Indian team trots off into the tunnel. It is Maldives who lead 1-0 at the break in Dhaka. 

Sarthak Golui with a probing cross into the area from the right but it finds no takers. Too close to the keeper and it goes off for a goal kick. India's wait continues. And now, yellow card for India skipper Subhasish Bose for late challenge from behind on a Maldives player

MALDIVES CHANGE: Akram Abdul Ghanee comes off for Numaan. 

CHANCE! Things being created thick and fast by India now. Long ball is not cleared well and it comes to Manvir Singh whose right footed effort takes a slight deflection before hitting the side netting

CHANCE! Cross from left into the Maldives box but Farukh fails to get to the cross. It is blocked before both Farukh and the Maldives player lose track of the ball. A player in red from Maldives cleares the ball away for a corner. Nothing from the resulting set piece

MALDIVES SCORE! GOAL! Hussain breaks free from his marker before chipping the ball over Kaith to give Maldives the lead. It comes against the run of play. For the first time in the SAFF Cup, India trail.
