53 passengers airlifted by Kargil Courier Service

Indian Air Force last week began the courier service for Kargil district in Ladakh region of the state.

Fifty three passengers were airlifted on the second flight of the Kargil courier service,the only link between the district in Ladakh region in Jammu and Kashmir with rest of the country,after the Zojilla pass was closed for vehicular traffic due to snowfall.

The An-32 Airforce transport plane carried 33 passengers from Kargil district to Srinagar and 20 passengers on the return flight,officials said.

The Srinagar-Kargil road has been closed for vehicular traffic by the state government due to heavy snowfall at Zojilla pass,the gateway to the Ladakh region. The road has been rendered slippery as the minimum temperature has dipped to minus 10 degrees Celsius.

Indian Air Force (IAF) last week began the courier service for Kargil district in Ladakh region of the state.

The courier service operates thrice a week on Monday,Wednesday and Thursday between Srinagar and Kargil and a weekly flight on Tuesday operates between Kargil and Jammu.

Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) announced its first list of 14 candidates for the Bihar assembly polls, with its state unit chief Raju Tiwary and leader Hulas Pandey among the nominees. As per the seat-sharing arrangement, LJP (RV) will contest 29 seats, while BJP and JD(U) will contest 101 seats each. The remaining 15 candidates will be announced soon.
