On the heels of Union Rural Development Minister Jairam Rameshs letters to Chief Minister Mayawati regarding alleged irregularities in the implementation of MNREGS in the state,BSP MLA from Nanpara in Bahraich Waris Ali has joined the chorus in highlighting the administrations failure in implementing various schemes, including MNREGS,in his constituency.
On December 2,Ali wrote a letter to Mayawati seeking a probe into the alleged irregularities in the implementation of various schemes, including MNREGS,in Dallapurva village panchayat in his Assembly seat.
Subsequently, the Chief Ministers Office (CMO) asked the Bahraich district administration to probe the MLAs allegations.
Bahraich district magistrate Pinki Joel confirmed she has got Alis letter from the CMO. I have asked the officials concerned to thoroughly probe the matter. As per preliminary reports, nothing substantial was found, she told The Indian Express on phone.
Ali refused to comment on his letter to the CM. I am not supposed to talk to mediapersons. I keep meeting villagers in my constituency. I usually write letters to CM Mayawatiji, who is also Mukhiya (chief) of my party,on different issues, the MLA replied to a question.
In his letter,Ali has cited the poor implementation of government schemes in Dallapurva village panchayat under Shivpur block of his Nanpara constituency. Puri gram panchayat mein MNREGA sahit sarkar ki kisi yojana ka upyog kahin bhi nahin dikhai par raha hai (the implementation of all the government schemes, including MNREGA,is not visible), Ali wrote to Mayawati.
He has cited the allotment of houses to poor people in Dallapurva panchayat. According to him, only 25 houses in the year 2009-10,seven houses in the year 2010-11 and 12 houses in the present year could be allotted in the panchayat. Although he has not mentioned the name of the housing scheme,it is Indira Aawas Yojana, a source in the Bahraich district administration said. He also alleged that the money, which is given to beneficiaries in various instalments,is taken from them by criminals in the area.
Reports reaching here from Bahraich said the government officials, who reached Dallapurva village, could not get sufficient evidence in support of Alis allegations. Perhaps the MLA was unhappy with the pradhan of the village, another source in Bahraich said.
