The round table conference held in the city as part of the three-day International Hackers Convention organised by Club Hack concluded on Monday. The seminar has called upon the academia, industry and government to come together to discuss the issue of information technology and identify cyber security priorities to build a strong cyber security network.
Raj Rajarajan,dean,e-learning,City University London,UK,said security should be given priority. There should be more awareness on security aspects. The academia can give proper training on cyber and data security thereby meeting industry requirements. For this, there should be proper interface between the industry and academia, he said.
Rajarajan said City University London was looking forward to more tie-ups with Indian universities. Over the years, the education scenario has changed and colleges in India are looking to collaborate with universities from the UK . Earlier, they were more inclined to universities in the US . Now,this is changing and more state-run universities are collaborating with universities in UK, he said.
Rajanish Dass from the Indian Institute of Management,Ahmedabad, said the right kind of input should be provided to academia from the IT industry and policy makers. Market-specific contents should be included in courses, he said. Dass said new models should be evolved so that industry, academicians and government could reap the benefit from innovations. Our experience tells that it is possible. The gap between the IT industry and academics should be bridged, he added.
Earlier, emerging disciplines in information security and cyber security and outsourcing threat were discussed.
