Jiah Khan suicide accused Sooraj Pancholi was not confirmed for Hero remake

Neither was Athiya Shetty, says filmmaker Subhash Ghai.

It was earlier announced that, the remake of Subhash Ghai’s 1983-hit film Hero that starred Jackie Shroff,Meenakshi Seshadri,Shammi Kapoor and Sanjeev Kumar, will introduce Suraj Pancholi,Aditya Pancholi and Zarina Wahab’s son and Athiya Shetty,Suniel Shetty’s daughter. Refuting this,Ghai said,“We have not yet confirmed Suraj or Athiya. All we have decided is that Mukta Arts and Salman Khan Productions would be making the film. We have yet to even finalise the director though we are on a lookout for a young maker. Since I have been busy with the shooting of my film Kaanchi,I am yet to meet Salman Khan. I shall meet him next week.”

However, with recent developments involving Suraj Pancholi in the Jiah Khan suicide case, does the fate of the youngster in the industry seem to be at stake? Would Salman Khan agree to have the youngster in the film? Ghai answered,“I don’t think Salman will take any drastic decision against Suraj. The general feeling in the industry is that the boy has been trapped and is simply being made a scapegoat. Nobody wants to make a tamasha of one’s life. What can one do if a person overreacts and commits suicide? Youngsters today are so open-minded,they talk, fight and yet are back together before you can blink. One should not read too much into it.”

As for Suraj’s fate in the case, the film-maker stated that the industry will surely stand by him,“Because he is a good boy. Of course,we do not know about the personal details, but as far as his professional career is concerned,I don’t think he will be out of films or the industry.”

Meanwhile,Suraj Pancholi has been remanded to judicial custody till June 27.
