“At Drupa, several manufactures, researchers and exhibitors of printing industry met and discussed major changes in printing technology in India as well as Europe,USA and China. Topics such as digital printing, hybrid printing, green printing, web to print and e-publishing were discussed. The more advanced technological changes may be at our doorsteps in 3-5 years,so we have to brace ourselves to accept the challenges,” he said.

In the conference, the industry experts said that digital print solutions will reach the production level of offset printing and play a major role in future industry.

“Inkjet is the revolutionary technique in which ink is directly sprinkled on paper. It has no intermediate stages and it saves time and money and improves speed and quality of printing,” said Kute. Kute said the offset printing will retain 30 to 40 per cent of printing volume until 2020,when digital printing will overtake offset performance and more and more offset volume will be replaced with digital printing.

“To face the challenges ahead,we have to use both offset lithography and digital printing. Customers will opt for both options. The offset printing will never vanish in the long run printing jobs such as daily newspapers and magazines. The Nanography printing technique will be a gamechanger in the printing business in future,” he added.
